Kalavarda Beach is a sand and pebble beach and is especially famous among kite-surfers and wind-surfers. There is the Kite Kalavarda school on the beach, which charges a fee for the use of the beach and ensuring the safety of surfers (there is, for example, a lifeboat). The kite-surfing school also rents the necessary equipment and offers a beginners' course.

Kalavarda is a fairly large beach, without tourist facilities in the form of sunbeds, umbrellas, etc. However, as the beach has become popular among sportsmen, small beach taverns have started to spring up, showers are available on the beach and nowadays, you can find accommodation in private apartments right next to the beach.

A large part of the beach appropriate for water sports is located to the left of the stone pier. Compared with that, on the right side of the pier, there is a leeward side suitable for swimmers. The beach also offers a beautiful view of the sunset.

Kalavarda Beach forms part of the seaside resort of Kalavarda. Nearby are two other nice, sandy and pebbly beaches, Kamiros and Anemomilos. While Kamiros is a nice, organised beach with excellent taverns, Anemomilos is a natural beach, without tourist services.
