Kolymbia

Kolymbia Beach is the main beach of the eponymous, pleasant and popular tourist resort of Kolymbia. The beach is almost 2 km long, organised and covered mostly with pebbles, sometimes with sand. It offers its visitors a quality beach service from a large number of differently coloured sunbeds and umbrellas, showers and toilet facilities, through several taverns to a wide range of water sports and entertainment. Although the beach is becoming increasingly popular with tourists, it still manages to maintain its tranquillity. This small natural bay with crystal clear water is therefore an ideal place for rest and relaxation.

In fact, it may seem that there are two beaches, as the coastline is divided by a small, partly rocky hill which is easily accessible and offers a beautiful view of the surrounding area.

The beach north of this hill is sandy and rocky, with whole rock slabs in the sea in some places and is actually the southern part of the neighbouring Afandou Beach.

The southern beach of Kolymbia is lined with local hotels (often of a higher category). The beach is very popular and sought after by tourists, mainly because of the clear sea and the fine golden sand that lies beneath the sea surface. The beach itself is rather sandy and pebbly and you will also appreciate water shoes. The gently sloping Kolymbia Beach is popular with families with children.

If you like clearly sandy beaches where your feet can nicely sink into, there is also one of the most famous beaches on the island nearby that you should not miss - the beautiful sandy beach of Tsampika. The eponymous Tsambika Monastery stands on the cliff above the beach. If you head 6 km north of Kolymbia Beach, you can visit the Paramithia Monastery.
