The quiet, but organised and easily accessible Kokkina Beach (sometimes also called Jordan Beach by locals) is part of the popular tourist resort of Kalithea, located on the northeast coast of Rhodes, between the capital city of Rhodes and the lively tourist resort of Faliraki.

Kokkina Beach is covered with beige coloured sand, but is situated on a rocky shoreline which makes it difficult to enter the water. The sea can be reached either from large, flat rocks jutting out into the water or by ladders fixed on steep rocks. Swimming here is therefore not suitable for small children and non-swimmers, as you enter straight into deep water. On the other hand, diving and snorkelling enthusiasts will love the place, as the sea in this area is crystal clear and rich in beautiful underwater formations.

The beach is equipped with sun loungers and straw parasols. There is also a small bar serving a classic summer menu of drinks, ice creams and simple snacks. The car parking place above the hill is shared by visitors to Kokkina Beach, the nearby museum and Kallithea Springs.

Kokkina Beach is situated in close proximity to the former thermal baths of Kalithea, which were famous already in antiquity and reached renewed fame in the 1930s under the hands of the Italians, in particular the Italian architect Pietro Lombardi. Today, the site serves as a beautiful relaxation area with palm trees, pine trees and reconstructed spa buildings.

The Kalithea Spa is situated right in the neighbouring bay and several roofs of the spa buildings can be seen from Kokinna Beach. The bay with the baths is also known as Kalithea Beach. In addition to Kalithea and Kokkina beaches, the resort also includes several other smaller beaches, such as Oasis Beach, Tasos Beach and Nikolas Beach.
