Stasínos of Cyprus

Stasínos of Cyprus was a Greek poet and writer. He was born in 700 BC (Cyprus) and died in the 7th century BC.

According to some sources, Stasín of Cyprus is credited with the authorship of the epic poem Kypria. This work dealt with the Trojan War, similarly to Ilias, although it was much inferior in quality. The poem describes events from the dispute of the three goddesses to the first years of the war. The work was written in dactylic hexameter. Only 50 lines of it survive.

Other sources, however, attribute the work to Hegesinus of Salamis or Cyprius of Halicarnassus.
