Greek philosophers

Aspasia

Aspasia was a Greek philosopher who was born in 470 BC in Miletus and was probably the wife of Pericles (Greek politician and military leader). She died in 400 BC.

Some sources say that Aspasia was also a prostitute. According to other sources, she is merely a fictional character.

Many legends refer to Aspasia as a symbol of womanhood in ancient Greece. Artists have portrayed her likeness and the philosophers Plato and Xenophon mention her in their works.
