Arnitha

Arnitha is a small village hidden among the hills in the southwestern part of the Greek island of Rhodes, about 80 km southwest of the capital city.

The sleepy but pleasant village with small white houses is located at the turn off the road leading from Gennadi to Apolakkia. As you enter the village, notice the natural spring "Kato Vrisi".

At the end of the village of Arnitha, where only hills and rocks continue, stands the chapel of St. Nicholas from the 13th century. From here you can enjoy a beautiful view of the sea and the Mesanagros Mountains. A symbol of the village is the monastery of St. George, the patron of the village. The monastery dates back to the 19th century and is built in the classic Dodecanese style of religious buildings.

Nearby is the beautiful Skiadenis Monastery, which can be reached on foot from the village of Arnitha. In general, the area is ideal for moderate and very interesting hiking in mountainous terrain.
