Pontos

In Greek mythology, Pontos is the god of the inner sea, accessible to humans.

Pontos is the son of the earth goddess Gaia, who gave birth to him from herself. His younger brothers are Okenaos (ruler of the outer sea) and Poseidon (ruler of the sea realm). Pontos ruled, for example, the Mediterranean Sea, the Red Sea, the Black Sea and others.

Gaia and Pontus eventually intermarried and had many offspring together, including Nérus, Phorcys, Keto, Thaumas, and Eurybia.
