The popular Georgioupolis (or Georgioupoli) beach forms part of the eponymous town of Georgioupolis, located in the picturesque valley of the Almiros river, close to the national road connecting the larger towns of Chania (approx. 37 km) and Rethymno (21 km).

Georgioupolis is a beautiful sandy beach with crystal clear water and a gradual entrance to the sea. Families with small children also like it, as they have plenty of space for their water play. On the other hand, the beach is also very much affected by strong northerly winds, which bring with them big waves and treacherous sea currents. It is therefore advisable to keep an eye on the colour of the flags and follow the recommendations of the local lifeguards.

Georgioupolis beach is very well organised, with sun loungers and umbrellas, showers, a beach bar and nearby tavernas available to visitors. A lifeguard supervises the safety of the tourists and on days when the sea is calm, there is also a sports centre on the beach offering a variety of water adrenaline activities.

To the north of Georgioupolis is the beautiful Kalivaki beach, which is smaller and quieter than Georgioupolis beach and not as affected by the northerly winds.
